I’m currently a senior student at the University of Puerto Rico Cayey Campus, working my way up the latter to obtain a B.S. degree in Natural Sciences. The choice to major in science came from my unending curiosity and from my fascination and deep desire to understand the world around me. Continuing to feed my desire for learning, I plan to obtain a Doctor in Medicine (MD) degree in the future while integrating clinical research into my studies. To choose medicine, as career is not a choice to be taken lightly, since it requires numerous sacrifice and hard work, but I’m certain that this subject is where my talents are best invested. Being raised and shaped by values such as commitment and compassion, this career choice presents an opportunity to transmit these qualities and effectively contribute to the advancement of society. One important quality of tomorrow’s physician is the adaptability and the ability to learn something every day, to understand the evolving world around us and how it is constantly feeding itself and we need to update with it; this is the reason that through my academic career I’ve joined organizations like the National Biology Honor Society and the Biological Pairing Research Program who promote the development of research and involvement of undergraduate students.
